Small-batch, naturally harvested honey from our Minnesota apiary. Named for Sage — the heart behind every hive.
Rooted in the pine-edged meadows of Cold Spring, Minnesota, Sage & Pine Apiary was born from a love of the land and a five year old girl named Sage.
Sage is five years old. She loves the outdoors, she is curious about everything, and one day this apiary will be hers. Sage & Pine Apiary was built with that promise in mind — a small honey farm dedicated entirely to her, designed to grow alongside her, and intended to be passed on when she is ready to take the reins.
Every jar of Prairie Sage Honey carries her name. Every hive we build, every colony we winter through, every frame of honey we harvest is one more step toward something she will one day call her own.
Our apiary sits at the edge of a pine grove in Cold Spring, Minnesota. The hives are surrounded by wildflowers, goldenrod, and the same prairie sage that gives our honey its name. Everything is raw, unfiltered, and harvested by hand. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just real honey — made with love, for Sage.
Every variety reflects the season it was pulled from. Raw, real, and Minnesota through and through. First harvest expected late summer 2026.
Light amber honey with a smooth floral finish. Harvested from mixed prairie wildflowers and clover surrounding the apiary.
Deep amber with a rich, bold flavor. Our goldenrod harvest produces the boldest honey of the season — earthy and complex.
Delicate and light. Our earliest spring harvest from the flowering trees and clover surrounding the pine grove at the apiary.
The perfect way to experience everything Sage & Pine Apiary produces. One jar of each of our three raw Minnesota honeys — a beautiful gift for yourself or someone you love.

Place a Custom OrderFrom nuc installation in April to the final harvest in late summer — every step at Sage & Pine Apiary is done by hand with care for the bees first.
We run four Langstroth 10-frame hives inside an electric fence enclosure. The bees are never treated with antibiotics. Our Varroa mite management program uses only registered, bee-safe treatments timed to protect the winter colony.
In winter, all four hives are paired under custom Foamular insulation covers built right here on the property to keep Minnesota's bees alive through the coldest months.
Late April into early May, new nucleus colonies arrive and are installed into prepared 10-frame hives loaded with drawn comb and honey frames from the previous season.
Through May and June the colonies expand across the brood boxes. Once 8 of 10 frames are covered, honey supers are added above a queen excluder for harvest.
Frames that are 80% or more capped with white beeswax are removed and extracted by hand. Only fully cured honey leaves the apiary.
Colonies are fed, Varroa-treated, and winterized under paired Foamular NGX insulation covers. Every colony must be strong and mite-free before the snow falls.
From the first nuc of spring to the last frost of November — moments from Sage & Pine Apiary.
